Sing A Long Wizard of Oz coming in April

Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz the new, interactive theatrical film experience, combining audience participation with the most beloved motion picture of all time, comes to The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts' Belding Theater for five shows only, April 2-4, 2004 as part of the Edwards and Angell Off-Broadway Series. Tickets are $20 each and are available now by visiting The Bushnell box office, located at 166 Capitol Avenue in Hartford, or by calling (860) 987-5900. Tickets are also available online at www.bushnell.org. Groups of 20 or more should call (860) 987-5959.

Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz invites audiences of all ages to journey from Kansas to Oz-and back again-with Dorothy. A Master of Ceremonies will introduce the film and lead the crowd through the evening's audience participation, which includes singing along with Dorothy and hissing at the Wicked Witch. To enhance their powers while they are in the magical LAND OF OZ, every audience member will receive a free "Perform-A-Long Fun Pack," including a kazoo, mystical bubbles, a noisemaker and a magic wand.

Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz allows audiences to celebrate the golden age of movies by enjoying this Oscar-winning film in the fashion in which it was meant to be seen: in a grand theatrical setting, fully restored, on a 23 foot high by 32 foot wide screen, with a state of the art sound system. In addition, audiences are encouraged to sing along with some of the best-known and most beloved songs in motion picture history (subtitled for new fans). To complete the Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz experience, audience members are encouraged to dress as their favorite Wizard of Oz character. The Master of Ceremonies will lead an on-stage costume parade, where prizes will be awarded for imagination and creativity. Munchkins, flying-monkeys, and twisters are all welcome. Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz premiered to rave reviews and sold out houses in Chicago in January of 2003, and will tour internationally with stops in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and the U.K.
