April 15, 2002, Hartford, CT - Stones in His Pockets, Marie Jones' award-winning international and Broadway hit comedy, will play The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts' Belding Theater for one week only, May 14-19, 2002 as part of the Phoenix Broadway Series. Set in an Irish village in County Kerry where a Hollywood film is being shot, Stones in His Pockets stars Bronson Pinchot and Christopher Burns. The two actors play 15 different characters on a film location, including the extras, the spoiled American star, the crew, and various locals. The play is partly based on Marie Jones' acting experiences in films shot in Ireland. Stones in His Pockets is directed by 2001 Tony(r) Award-nominee Ian McElhinney.
Stones in His Pockets played at Broadway's Golden Theater from April to September 2001. It is currently running in London's West End. Originating at the Lyric Theatre in Belfast, Stones in His Pockets has also played in Dublin, Edinburgh, London, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Toronto. The production coming to Hartford in May is part of a tour that included stops in San Diego, Wilmington, and San Francisco.
Marie Jones is an actress and writer. Her play A Night in November ran off-Broadway in 1998. Her hit comedy Woman on the Verge of HRT was produced in Ireland and England, including a successful run at The Vaudeville Theatre in London. Her new comedy, Get a Life, the sequel to the previous play, opened last fall at the Gaiety in Dublin. She is married to Ian McElhinney, the director, who is also an actor. He has worked in theaters through Ireland, the UK and North America.
Bronson Pinchot's many film roles include Quentin Tarantino's True Romance and Beverly Hills Cop III. His leading stage roles have been as Autolycus in The Winter's Tale at New York's Shakespeare Festival and in Sondheim's Putting It Together on Broadway with Carol Burnett. He starred in the long running TV series "Perfect Strangers." Christopher Burns' US stage credits include Pride's Crossing at Lincoln Center, Sam Shepard's Fool For Love, and Laertes in Hamlet. Film and TV credits include "Law and Order" and "The Testimony of Charles Manson."
