The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra comes to Hartford
"Nothing short of extraordinary" is how critics have described the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's music director, Mariss Jansons. The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts is pleased to host Jansons and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra during his farewell tour before taking the helm of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam. The orchestra will be performing in The Bushnell's Mortensen Hall as part of the Webster Classical Series on Thursday, March 18, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets prices for this performance range from $28.00 to $75.00, and they may be purchased at The Bushnell Box Office located at 166 Capital Avenue in Hartford or by calling (860) 987-5900. The program for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will include Beethoven's Symphony No. 8, Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4, and Stravinsky's Suite from The Firebird (1919 revision). There will be a pre-concert talk at 6:30 p.m. with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra's music director, Edward Cumming.
