About the L.A. Guitar Quartet Recognized as one of America's premier ensembles, the L.A. Guitar Quartet (LAGQ) is one of the most charismatic and versatile groups performing today. As well as performers, John Dearman, William Kanengiser, Scott Tenant and Andrew York are composers, arrangers and ethnomusicologists, expanding the boundaries of the guitar quartet repertory. The virtuosi of the LAGQ bring a new energy to the concert stage with their eclectic programs and dynamic musical interplay. Their inventive, critically acclaimed transcriptions of concert masterworks provide a fresh look at the music of the past, while their interpretations of works from the contemporary and world-music realms continually break new ground.
The LAGQ has given recitals in many of the world's top concert halls, including Chicago's Orchestra Hall and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, and they have toured extensively throughout Europe and Asia. Their newest release, "LAGQ: Latin" has been nominated in the category of "Best Classical Crossover Album" for the 45th Annual Grammy Awards.
