Go Sailing Down to Rio in Travel Film Adventure at The Bushnell
Come celebrate Carnaval with The Bushnell’s second Travel Film of the season

Hartford, CT – October 23, 2007 – At 150,000 tons the Queen Mary 2 is the longest, tallest, widest, biggest ocean liner of the world. To commemorate her launch in 2004 the Queen Mary 2 went on a voyage to Rio de Janeiro for the largest party on earth, Carnaval. The voyage duplicates a legendary journey of the S.S. Normandie in 1939, one of the most remembered voyages of the 20th century. Come experience this historic journey with guest lecturer Doug Jones at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. The engagement is part of the William H. Mortensen Travel Film Series and will be presented in The Bushnell’s Maxwell and Ruth Belding Theater.

Sailing from Fort Lauderdale, Queen Mary 2 stops in St. Thomas, the Virgin Islands then sails to the Southern Hemisphere arriving in the Portuguese colonial capital of Salvador de Bahai. Along the way travel overnight to the Amazon River and Iguazu Falls. Queen Mary 2 arrives in Rio just as Carnaval begins.
