Scenes from the Bushnell

Elliot Awards

Inaugurated in 1995, the K. Gregory Elliot and Zarou Manoukian Elliot Scholarship for the Arts Award is presented annually at The Bushnell to honor students in public secondary schools in Hartford for achievements in the arts, and to nurture and foster the continued development of their talents and appreciation for the arts.

The late Bushnell Trustee, Ralph Elliot, who grew up in the Hartford area, established this award to honor the memory of his parents. Mr. Elliot's father grew up in the Frog Hollow neighborhood of Hartford and practiced medicine there for over 40 years.

The annual awards made possible by this generous gift serve to perpetuate the memory of K. Gregory and Zarou Manoukian Elliot as outstanding citizens who devoted their lives to maintaining the health and well-being of several generations of citizens of the City of Hartford.

The type of art form changes annually, and has included visual arts, theater, music, poetry, creative writing, and playwriting.
