Professional Development

Prior to the commencement of a new PARTNERS unit in a school, The Bushnell conducts Professional Development for the teachers involved with the unit. In a session ranging anywhere from one hour to a full day, teachers experience the full activity that their students will experience when the teaching artist visits their classroom.

The session begins with a review of the related book selected for the unit, followed by a hands-on activity (visual arts, writing, music and movement, etc.), conducted by the teaching artist. The Professional Development session ends with a discussion of curriculum connections and extension activities.
