  Language Arts Festivals

The Education department hosts an annual festival at the end of the school year, to celebrate writing in our PARTNERS schools.

Over the course of the school year, PARTNERS provides master poets as teaching artists in several Hartford elementary schools. At the end of the poetry unit, a musical group visits and works with selected students by providing a musical accompaniment to their poetry. The Ellen Goldfarb Language Arts Festival features the work of these third to fifth grade poets from the Hartford schools.

The festival is a fun-filled event which also showcases other entertaining performers from our program. The lineup of artists changes from year to year, but has included mime, African dance, Flamenco dance and music.

In addition, the Plainville school system holds an annual Language Arts Festival, featuring student poets, as well as the world premieres of Plainville student writing, performed by Child's Play Touring Theatre.
