Casting announced for Bushnell engagement of Chicago

Casting for the Hartford engagement of the national tour of CHICAGO has just been announced and includes Melba Moore in the role of Matron Mama Morton, Michelle DeJean as Roxie Hart and Terra MacLeod as Velma Kelly.
CHICAGO recently celebrated its’ 10 year anniversary as Broadway's longest running revival. The recipient of six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, a Grammy and thousands of standing ovations, CHICAGO will play Hartford at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts for 8 performances from January 9 -14, 2007. Produced by Tony Award-winners Barry and Fran Weissler, and under the Tony Award-winning direction of Walter Bobbie and spotlighting the Tony Award winning choreography by Ann Reinking in the style of the legendary Bob Fosse and re-created by Gary Chryst, CHICAGO features the “razzle-dazzle” music and lyrics of master Broadway multi-award winning composers John Kander and Fred Ebb, with book by Mr. Ebb and Bob Fosse.
MELBA MOORE (Matron “Mama” Morton) was last on Broadway in Les Miserables portraying the ill-fated Fantine. She starred in the first National Tour of Brooklyn in the role of Paradice. A singer with a multi-octave range, Moore began her career as a back-up singer for the likes of Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick and Liza Minnelli. Her work in the original company of Hair led to her Tony winning role in Purlie, and since then Moore has performed in concert arenas throughout the world. Her R&B hits include “I Am His Lady,” “Falling” and “Read My Lips,” which was nominated for a Grammy Award. Moore was also recently seen in the Paramount film “The Fighting Temptations.”
MICHELLE DeJEAN (Roxie Hart). As a long standing member of the Broadway company of CHICAGO , Michelle is honored to now be starring as Roxie Hart with this amazing cast. Other credits include the national and international tours of West Side Story (Anita),Mame (Gloria Upson),The Sound Of Music (Liesl)and Jesus Christ Superstar. She has also appeared in over 15 regional productions including My Fair Lady, Oliver, 42nd Street, Evita, La Cage aux Folles,Anything Goes, Cinderella, to name a few. Terra C. MacLeod (Velma Kelly). Terra comes to the National Tour after making her Broadway debut in the role of Velma Kelly, a role she also originated in the French production of “Chicago” in Montreal and Paris. Originally from Montreal , she has spent the last few years performing around the world. Recipient of the 2003 Jessie Richardson for Best Supporting Actress in Large Theatre (Vancouver, BC Arts Club) for her portrayal of Anita in “West Side Story”. Recent credits: Lola in “Damn Yankees” (Stagewest, Calgary ), Cassie in “A Chorus Line” (Philadelphia Rockwell Theatre), “My Fair Lady”, “She Loves Me”, “Hotel Porter” (Vancover BC ) amongst others. Various film and TV credits: “The Lizzie Macguire Movie”, “The Reagans”, “Dead Zone”, “Jeremiah”, Barbie and the Nutcracker” and “Cold Squad”. She is a graduate of AMD A in New York City .
